Want to thank Don Ransome (Triple Threat member) for telling me to train for Warsaw in 2003 before my training for the Chicago Marathon ramped up. I did that race and was completely hooked!

I started running in my 30s and quickly got the bug doing over 20 marathons. For about ten years, every Saturday was for running. It took me three years to qualify for Boston, but I finally made it in 2004 with a 3:40 PR. I joined Triple Threat when I moved to Indiana about 13 years ago and was looking for other runners. Love the cross training and the camaraderie of training with others. It's the best! Running is my release and meditation. Love trail running the best. Love swimming in open water in the summer. As an event planner, have organized over 70 local fitness events. Triple Threat Board Member for at least ten years.

I started doing triathlons in 2014 while living in Madison, Wisconsin. My competitive husband had dreams of an Ironman and I was looking to incorporate more variation into my running regiment. I had humble beginnings (nearly pulled from the swim in my first race due to complete incompetence) but my persistence has paid off, and to date I have completed 4 full distance Ironmans, 5 half distance Ironmans, and several shorter distance races. My favorite race is Ironman Wisconsin for the crowd support and indoor transitions. I have also completed 14 marathons, including the Boston Marathon in 2018 and 2019. My goal for the future is to increase my speed at shorter distances and I hope to break 20 minutes in the 5k in 2020. I work as a social worker at Oaklawn and enjoy watching baseball and college football.

Fun fact: my first triathlon was 6/8/14 and I forgot to put on deodorant. It was bad... really bad. Fast forward to October 2019, and I have finished four Ironman triathlons, one full marathon, a handful of 2.4 mile OWS and more century rides that I can count. Advice to all triathletes: Enjoy the training. I love to race and I love to compete, but without the long rides and hard workouts the race is not as fun. The most exciting part of my first Ironman (IMWI '16) was being able to complete each stage of the race and be proud of my accomplishment. Raceday was a celebration of the journey. And don't forget to put on deodorant. Outside of triathlon training, I work as a commercial banker and enjoy spending time with my wife (fellow board member, Melissa Buddie) and cheering on the Irish.

I've been doing tri on & off for 5yrs. It was a slow progression in. I started one summer with a super sprint. Then the next summer I did an Olympic, the next summer a half, and the next year a full. I started taking tri seriously a year ago - at the start of 2019 - and am grateful for this awesome team to share it with! My Fave discipline would be a toss up between swimming and running, but I think swimming comes out ahead. Fave race? This is a hard one! I actually have raced very little, but IM Madison will always hold a very special place in my heart. Fun fact : I’m the least organized and least ocd triathlete you’ll meet. I continue to surprise myself with how unprepared I am race after race. It never fails! This summer I shared a bed with a stranger in a hotel the night before Muncie, because the reservation I made (in a frantic state as I drove down the evening before) ended up accidentally being in a different state. LOL. This is my life. It’s fun! I credit all of you for the numerous times saving my ass with gear lending and advice, and I appreciate the broader tri community I get to know through this journey!

I am originally from Wisconsin and am happy to represent the “back of the pack” triathletes. My goal is training for fun and fitness with a smile on my face. I have competed in several local sprint races. My first half iron was in Door Country, Wisconsin 2017 and I just did Steelhead 70.3 in 2019. You’ll find me on the Monday night bike rides from the Edwardsburg fire station and at the Beacon pool in Granger. For recovery, I am a fan of microbreweries and massages and I am happy to discuss both on a long bike ride!
